Security guards may not always be actively patrolling a business property. In many cases, a security professional may be tasked with duties such as video surveillance monitoring, credential verification, contraband inspection, manifest confirmation, or access control. Guards are assigned specific objectives, such as preventing shoplifting, loss prevention, monitoring premises after business hours, or opening and closing a business for the day. These monitoring duties alleviate much of the security burden from the business owner and their employees, enabling them to concentrate on their core responsibilities.
