Heroes Regional Park

The journey to create this 4-acre lake began with the groundbreaking in May of 2021, and after months of diligent work, it was finally filled with water in mid-December. The result is a stunning oasis that offers a range of recreational opportunities for visitors to enjoy in Glendale.

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the lake as you stroll along the walking paths, cast a line from one of the fishing piers, or find respite under the shade of the ramadas. A true spectacle awaits as you witness the beautiful waterscape fountain, adorned with color-changing lighting and a night glow system that illuminates the area after dark.

Heroes Park Lake is proudly part of the esteemed Arizona Game and Fish Urban Fishing Program. Throughout the year, the lake will be stocked with various fish species, ensuring an exciting angling experience for fishing enthusiasts. During the winter months, rainbow trout will be introduced, while bluegill, sunfish, and catfish will grace the lake during the warmer seasons.

To guarantee the optimal quality of water and provide a thriving aquatic habitat, the lake is equipped with top-of-the-line aeration equipment. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the beauty and serenity of the lake while maintaining a sustainable environment.

During the opening event, Mayor Weiers expressed gratitude to the council for their unwavering support in making the lake a reality. He acknowledged the patience of the community, recognizing that the lake has been a long-awaited addition to Heroes Park.

The lake complements the existing attractions within the park, including a lively splash pad, volleyball and basketball courts, playground areas, an archery range, and picnic ramadas. Its creation is a testament to the dedication of Yucca District Councilmember Joyce Clark, who tirelessly worked to realize this long-held vision.

Councilmember Clark emphasized the significance of Heroes Park Lake as a symbol of the city council’s commitment to completing the comprehensive vision for Heroes Park, a goal that has spanned over 22 years. She expressed her confidence that residents will cherish and make abundant use of this latest gem in Glendale’s remarkable park system.

Situated at the northeast corner of Bethany Home Road and 83rd Avenue, Heroes Park Lake proudly stands as Glendale’s second urban fishing lake, joining the distinguished ranks of Bonsall Park’s lake located at 5840 W. Bethany Home Road.
